Young Block Co. was established by Thomas P. Young in 1971 at Sierra Vista, Arizona. Mr. Young recognized a need for a block plant in the Sierra Vista area, not only for a local supply of concrete block, but also to provide faster, higher quality service that the Southern Arizona communities required. Young Block has grown and supplied the needs of the communities of Nogales, Benson, Bisbee, Douglas, Sunsites, Huachuca City, Tombstone and Safford as well as Fort Huachuca and Sierra Vista. After a few short years the Tucson area was being serviced from Sierra Vista by Young Block Co. In 1979 Young Block Co. acquired Concrete Products, located for over 30 years at Wetmore and First Avenue. Soon after Young Block Co. moved to make way for the Tucson Mall and at the same time expanded at their new location, 2200 Gardner Lane. As part of the expansion, Young Block Co. added a new Twin Plant in 1981. Young Block Co. of Tucson has grown and met the needs of Southern Arizona, providing quality slump block, and CMU units at fair prices with the best service possible. Young Block Co. Inc., a locally owed family company, is a complete masonry producer, serving the needs of the "do it-your-selfer" as well as the masonry contractor. Young Block supplies all of your masonry needs from standard 8" cmu to custom shapes and sizes that include light weight, splitface , scratchfaced , fluted splitface , ground faced slump , variegated splitface , variegated ground face, interlocking fence block, as well as pavers, glass block and stepping stones. Remember , masonry is the only true building material for the southwest . Masonry is the lowest life-cost , maintenance-free building material that is also durable , versatile , energy efficient , environmentally friendly and masonry helps to decrease the cutting of the quickly dwindling timber supplies . At times over the many years that Young Block Company has produced masonry products , it has been necessary to construct Proto- type equipment to fill the very sophisticated requirements of the masonry industry of southern Arizona. Young Block Co. has striven to be a good steward by reclamation of the areas that are used for sand and gravel operation to recycling waste products , such as steel, aluminum and yes even block products that are crushed and reused . Young Block Co. has over the last quarter century has continually found ways to reduce land fill materials by investing m equipment that minimizes waste products.
